A.Top 10 Sexiest Car
What is sexy? Aside from the salaciously suggestive connotation, the term simply refers to something that arouses the senses, or is attractive or appealing to look at. Well, the cars listed here are truly sexy. They aroused the crowds at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show, and help bring a little joy to an otherwise somber affair. Enough with the poetic prose — here are the ten sexiest vehicles from Detroit as chosen by Me the editors of Crypton’s Blog..
-1 Audi R8 
-2 BMW Z4 
This neat little roadster will appeal to buyers who want the ultimate driving machine. The 2009 Z4 has more power, new styling and a retractable hardtop that motorizes into the trunk in only 20 seconds. The base trim gets a 255-horsepower 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine carried over from the previous model Z4. Performance fans looking for more get-up-and-go will be happy to hear that BMW is also offering this new roadster with a 300-horsepower turbocharged 6.
-3 Bentley GTC Speed
Bentleys have more power than most drivers know what to do with. Any Bentley with the word “Speed” at the end of its name is even more powerful. This new convertible is the latest in the boutique British firm’s line of outlandishly fast cars. It puts out 600 horsepower from a 6-liter 12-cylinder engine and will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds – 0.3 seconds quicker than the standard GTC. Plus, it has a top speed of 200 mph with the top up and 195 mph with the top down.
-4 Dodge Circuit
This battery-powered rear-wheel-drive performance coupe can go 150 to 200 miles on a single charge, zips from zero to 60 in less than 5.0 seconds, and has a top speed of 120 mph. While that last stat isn’t so sexy, this little roadster is very stimulating. It’s basically an unaltered re-badge of the Lotus Europa adorned with Dodge’s signature crosshair grille. It is powered by 200 kW electric motor, lithium-ion battery pack and a sophisticated controller to manage the energy flow. The trio works to develop an impressive 268 horsepower and a neck snapping 480 lb-ft of torque.
-5 Fisker Karma S 
When the Karma goes on sale in November for $87,900, it will be the first mass-produced plug-in electric vehicle sold in the United States. It will accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds and have a top speed of 125 mph. The Karma S, its convertible counterpart, will use the same mechanicals but have a slick drop-top. As with the Karma, the S will be powered by two electric motors that send 408 horsepower and 959 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheel
-6 Ford Shelby GT500 
Seemingly buried among the slew of electric vehicles was a pair of the most powerful Mustangs ever, the 2010 Shelby GT500 coupe and convertible. The all-new GT500’s updated 5.4-liter engine will develop 540 horsepower, 40 more than the current model. Set for release this spring, this new pony car gains design and interior cues from the updated standard Mustangs, and chassis and power upgrades from the ultra-high-performance 2008-09 Ford Shelby GT500KR. Among the interior upgrades are satin aluminum trim, a soft-skin dash and suede-like Alcantara material on various surfaces.
-7 Jaguar XFR 
The XFR replaces the XF Supercharged as the top cat in the Jag lineup. It’s armed with an all-new 510 horsepower 5.0-liter V8 that propels the vehicle to 60 mph in a mere 4.7 seconds. And even though top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph, Jaguar has managed to achieve 225.675 mph with this car on the famed Bonneville Salt Flats. It also features two new systems, dubbed Active Dynamics and Active Differential Control, which both work to counter wheel slip, whether from a lead foot and giant torque or simple driver misjudgment.
-8 Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S 
While not your typical family car, the Quattroporte is, in fact, Maserati’s entry in the family car segment. Now, the Italian automaker is upping the va-va-voom factor with performance and styling enhancements sure to appeal to style-conscious parents looking for the ultimate Italian four-door to stand out from the gaggle of Bimmers and Benzos at the local PTA meeting. The engine in the Sport GT S is the same screaming 4.7-liter V8 used in the “S” version, only slightly more powerful – it has 433 horsepower, versus 430 horses. The six-speed automatic transmission’s management software and suspension have also changed to improve driving enjoyment.
-9 Mercedes-Benz Stirling Moss SLR McLaren –
My Favourite! 
Though it won’t be available in the United States, this 650-horsepower, 217.5-mile-per-hour open-top roadster will be one of the world’s most exclusive supercars. Production of the SLR McLaren on which it is based will end in May, making the Stirling Moss edition one final variant to outdo all the others. Only 75 will be built, and only current SLR owners will be considered for the privilege of plunking down 750,000 euros (that’s over a million bucks) to purchase one.

Boasting a top speed of 140 mph while managing to get a claimed 55 mpg on the highway, this turbocharged 2.0-liter diesel concept puts out 180 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque at just 1750 rpm. Coupled to a 6-speed double-clutch transmission, the TDI engine launches to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds. Vehicle weight is kept to a minimum (2,600 lbs) through extensive use of aluminum and other lightweight materials.
B. Top 10 Concept Cars
Concept cars are what make auto shows fun. Nobody really wants to see the latest evolution of a car that has existed for decades. No, the people want hope for the future, and more importantly, to know how soon they’ll be able to buy flying cars like in “The Jetsons.” Concepts give us an idea what can be achieved with a little creativity and innovative thought. Here are My picks for the top 10 concepts at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show.
-1 Audi Sportback concept 
This slick ride is called “Sportback” because it has a hatchback instead of a trunk, and is rumored to be a carbon copy of the much-anticipated A7. Stefan Sielaf, Audi board member in charge of design, says the minimalist look is meant to help people focus on the overall shape, not flashy design tricks like those that adorn its competitors. It’s propelled by a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder turbo diesel that produces 225 horsepower, and will have Quattro all-wheel drive and a 7-speed automatic transmission.
-2 Cadillac Converj 
If this sexy looking coupe is any indication, GM’s luxury brand is hot to trot in the race for zero emissions. Like the Chevy Volt, which is due to go into production by the end of 2010, the Converj is an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV), which means it will be equipped with an electric motor as well as a gasoline engine. The electric motor provides primary propulsion, while the gas-powered engine acts as a generator to recharge the vehicle’s batteries.
-3 Chrysler 200C 
This EREV Concept promises a 400-mile range, with 40 of those possible on 100 percent electric power. The 200C features goodies like a “panoramic multimedia touch screen,” which takes the place of all switches and levers, and can be customized down to the desktop background. It’s based on a shortened version of Chrysler’s rear-wheel drive platform. Designers tell us that the 200C’s sweptback nose and “wind-cheating shape” make better use of the ENVI drivetrain.

-5 Kia Soul'ster 
It’s a two-door, four-passenger, open-air utility vehicle with a canvas top that covers the rear seating row. Roll bar-style rails connect the half-top to the rear, and the front bumper features an anodized skid-pad insert, which is matched by anodized surfaces on the fender vents, roll bar header and 19-inch wheels. The headlights, fog lights and taillights all use blue-tinted LEDs, and the side vents and exterior-mirror turn signals incorporate a blue tint as well.
-6 Lincoln C Concept 
The C Concept is based on Ford Motor’s Global Small Car platform, which also hosts the Mazda3 and the European Ford Focus. The wheels are pushed to the corners and the low-slung appearance yields what Lincoln calls “go-cart visual stability.” The front end features an aggressive version of Lincoln’s signature double-wing grille, and the all-glass roof is cantilevered with a wide rear pillar and no center pillar. The rear doors open suicide-style.
-7 Mercedes-Benz BlueZERO 
These three cars could represent a monumental culture shift for the luxury carmaker. The BlueZERO E-Cell is a plug-in electric vehicle that can drive around 125 miles on a single charge. The BlueZERO E-Cell Plus adds a small 3-cylinder gasoline engine and has a range of more than 370 miles, while the BlueZERO F-Cell, has a fuel cell that converts compressed hydrogen into electricity. It can drive 350 emissions-free miles on one tank of gaseous hydrogen.
-8 Subaru Legacy Concept 
The concept is powered by a 3.6-liter, horizontally opposed boxer 6-cylinder engine that is mated to Subaru’s symmetrical all-wheel drive. The engine is presumably this big because we’re looking at a sporting version of the new Legacy, as evidenced by the aggressively flared wheel arches and a front fascia that says “get out of my way.”
-9 Volvo S60 Concept 
The front is unmistakably Volvo, with an enlarged, trapezoidal grille flanked by sweeping LED headlights inspired by Viking longboats. Pronounced shoulders form a “double wave” belt line that runs the length of the car. In the rear, integrated exhaust tips and trapezoidal license-plate mounting space are topped by a retractable diffuser that improves aerodynamics. Inside, the floating center console is made of solid Orrefors crystal.

C. Top 10 Cars at The Show
This is the list you’ve been waiting for. Forget the overviews of the best or worst dressed celebs at the Golden Globes. That’s kid stuff. Here, we give you our picks for the top 10 cars — ranging from on-the-way production models to pie-in-the-sky concepts — from the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. While the mood might be somber here in Motown, there is impressive metal to see. These are MY favorites, in alphabetical order.
-1 Audi Sportback concept 
Audi calls this slick ride the “Sportback” because, unlike other sedans with coupe-like lines that have a trunk, it has a hatchback. Like the Saturn Aura and Chevrolet Malibu before it, the 2010 Buick LaCrosse promises to be better than the car it replaces, with improved exterior styling and interior quality. The LaCrosse returns with front-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive is now available. When it goes on sale this summer, the LaCrosse will be offered with two engine options: a new 255-horsepower 3.0-liter V6 or a carryover 280-horsepower 3.6-liter V6.

We were pleasantly surprised by the redesign of this American icon. Instead of the conservative family car we expected, Ford’s new Taurus, set for release this summer, will feature fun-to-drive underpinnings and an all-new look that’s very sporty. Under the hood, you’ll find a 250-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 (a carryover from the vehicle’s days as the Ford 500). Ford’s EcoBoost turbocharged 355-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 will also be option, but not initially. Buyers will be impressed by the options list as well, which includes massaging seats, push-button starting, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, blind spot warning and cross traffic alert.

Who’s kidding who, the all-new Insight was specifically designed to compete with the all-new Toyota Prius. It is propelled by an electric motor, a 1.3-liter i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine and a continuously variable automatic transmission. Total output is 98 horsepower, with fuel economy ratings of 40 mpg city/43 highway. It also features an EcoAssist system with guidance and scoring functions that encourage efficient driving. Promised to be America’s lowest-priced hybrid, the new Insight goes on sale April 22, – Earth Day
