On Friday the slighter versions of Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN)’s new Kindle Fire tablet computers become available.
The recent released devices represent Amazon’s newest challenge to Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) and its iPad tablets, though larger models that are closer in size to the iPad won’t be out until November.
The cost of basic, 7-inch Fire model will $159, decreased from $199 for the original model, which sold out previous month. Amazon declares it is 40% faster, comes with twice the memory and has a longer battery life than the old version. As well, an HD version with a improved screen and two Wi-Fi channels and two internal antennas for faster, smoother transfers.
Amazon reported that will be crucial for high-definition movies and other big files. The 7-inch model starts at $199.
