Google Inc. has included India in the list of countries currently supported for distributing paid apps in Google Play Store. Now Indian developers are able to release free apps via the app store.
But Google Inc. is not allowing the developers to setup merchant accounts in Google Checkout that is an obligatory step for selling paid apps.
The permission given to Indian developers to distribute paid apps came at very crucial time in the Android history, because it has been four years since the release of version 1.0 of Android SDK. SDK is a set of development tools that is needed by a developer for the creation of applications.
Google Inc.’s (NASDAQ:GOOG) Google Play is the official application store for Android OS which is compatible with Android devices and these devices can allow you to download apps. There are more than 600,000 Android apps that are available in the Google App store according to the last estimates.
Now Google will allow Indian developers to sell paid Android apps in Google Play. Currently there are 31 other countries from where developers can publish paid apps in Google Play. This permission will make the tech sector flourish in India and it will boost up the software and app development market.
The opportunity given to Indian Developers to sell paid apps will be an added advantage as it will give them an additional way to monetize apps apart from just adding advertisements, which are not as good for user experience.
