GOOGLE Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG)’s patent-violation complaint against Apple Inc’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) devices, including those that use the Siri voice-recognition feature, would be investigated by a US trade agency.
The US International Trade Commission said on Tuesday that it has started an official probe of the complaint submitted on Aug. 17 by Google’s Motorola Mobility unit. Notice of the probe was posted on the firm’s website.
Motorola Mobility has stated that it anticipates the complaint will put pressure on Apple to talk on a cross-licensing agreement. The firms have been battling since the past two years.
Google (GOOG) purchased Motorola Mobility to get a “right of entry” to its trove of patents versus Apple’s claims that products running on Google’s Android OS are duplicating the unique features of the iPhone.
