Both were dual GPU!, both were the only GPU market leader! and both were the Best of the Best!
Finally after few months waiting, Nvidia finally launched the long delayed of its 55nm technology based on GT200 Chipset. The GTX 295 with a whopping 1.7GHz of memory onboard and its amazing!!
After the market been overwhelmed and conquered by the HD 4870X2 for nearly 5 months now, and the previous release of Geforce GTX 280 also falls to the prey of HD 4870X2.
The new high end NVIDIA, two-chip GeForce GTX 295, was presented as was planned, during the first day of CES 2009 exhibition : eighth January. We should recall that the productivity of any multi-chip graphical solutions depend on the support of concrete application by driver and the ability of application to work correctly with such solutions.
The productivity Of GeForce GTX 295 as it was assumed, proved to be considerably higher than the Radeon HD 4870 X2, ATI reacted by reduction in the price by $100 and by the release of new driver, noticeably raising the performance of its two-chip video card. The GeForce GTX 295 exceeded its competitor by 10-20%.
The consumer qualities Of GeForce GTX 295 also proved to be at the height. Energy consumption in the idle and load proved to be lower than in Radeon HD 4870 X2 by 12 and 45 W respectively.
Temperature conditions, also proved to be more restrained, in comparison with competitors : 50 degrees Celsius in the idle time and 85 under load, while the radeon HD 4870 X2 demonstrates 60 and 88 degree Celsius in the given regimes. In this case the GeForce GTX 295 proved to be louder than competitors by 8 dB and 2 dB (Idle , load ).
In spite of all this, this card was overclocked to the frequencies 675/1404/2430 MHz for the core, shader domain and memory respectively. Regular frequencies, let us recall, are 576/1242/1998 MHz.
