iOS 6 developer preview have a warm welcome

Many international firms are bracing themselves for the company’s newest smartphone which is based on Apple’s iOS 6 operating system. We expect a lot of businesses to integrate iOS 6′s Passbook feature which can be used for storing boarding passes, loyalty cards, coupons, etc. According to a report published on 9to5Mac website, an airline has already started using the feature for its passengers’ convenience.

According to reports, a reader was recently able to load a boarding pass into Passbook while checking in for a flight with Virgin Australia using his Apple Inc (AAPL) device running iOS 6. The user checked in for his flight using the airline’s mobile website on his iPhone, which is running a developer preview edition of iOS 6. Apple Inc’s latest iOS 6 detects the mobile check-in and offers to save the boarding pass into passenger’s Passbook account whilst Passbook also offers live updates to these e-passes, such as flight delays and any changes to boarding gates.

More surprisingly, this popup message comes from airline’s website which has detected iOS 6 as the phone’s operating system. This means that over the coming days, other airlines and businesses would start updating their websites for Passbook support. These updates can be adopted without approval from Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) as internet is not regulated like App Store.

For those curious readers who cannot wait to get a hand on it, here is a guide on how to use Passbook.

First, open the PassSource.com website on your iOS 6-enabled device, and then select the type of pass you would like to create e.g. store cards, boarding passes, coupons, events,

Fill in the pass with the correct information, like the member name, card number etc.

Press create button which would open inside of the Passbook app to make the app completely usable!

If the Apple Inc (AAPL)’s iPhone5 includes an NFC chip, which can eventually make Passbook an awesome Google Wallet alternative if it persuades a payment processor like Citibank’s PayPass system for credit card transactions.

United Airlines has already committed to supporting Passbook with its own mobile boarding passes, and other airlines won’t be slow to follow the trends.
