Kia is continuing its major styling overhaul with the introduction of the 2010 Forte Koup at the New York auto show.
Based of the KOUP concept car that was shown at last year’s New York show, the Forte Koup shares the grille treatment and stretched-back headlights with the already introduced Forte sedan. However, the Koup features a lower stance, larger and lower front air dams and a rear diffuser out back.
When the Forte Koup arrives in showrooms sometime this summer, it will be available in either an EX or SX trim. The EX model employs a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 156 hp and 144-lb-ft of torque joined with a five-speed manual or available four-speed automatic transmission. Sixteen-inch aluminum wheels are standard.
With the range-topping SX version, the engine is upgraded to a 2.4-liter four-cylinder providing 173 hp and 168-lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual is standard, while a five-speed automatic is optional. The SX also adds 17-inch wheels, stiffer suspension tuning, sport cloth seats with red stitching, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob and special gauge cluster.
Standard entertainment equipment includes a six-speaker audio system with satellite radio capabilities, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, USB and auxiliary input jacks and Bluetooth.
