The overhaul of the Nissan 370Z lineup is complete with the debut of the roadster and NISMO models at the New York auto show.
Like the coupe, the 370Z roadster moves to a heavily revised platform with a shortened wheelbase and improved rigidity. To make up for the lost structural properties of a fixed roof, the roadster features beefed up reinforcements in the A-pillars and side sills.
Further separating the 370Z roadster from the coupe is a shortened windshield and a rounded rear deck. The soft top gets a larger glass rear window. Top operation takes roughly 20 seconds to open or close. With the top down, a redesigned wind deflector between the seat headrests reduces the amount of wind that penetrates the cabin.
Powertrain options carry over from the coupe, with a 3.7-liter V6 with 332 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque connected to either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic transmission. The SynchroRev Match system is available for manual-equipped models.
Crisper handling comes courtesy of the new front double-wishbone suspension and stiffened four-link rear system with lightened aluminum arms. Eighteen-inch aluminum wheels with Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tires are standard, while 19-inch Rays forged rims are optional.
