Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) will permit users of Windows 8 Pro to downgrade their new Personal Computers to Windows 7 or even Vista, as mentioned in the operating system licensing deal.
Not unpredictably, customers may not downgrade to the still-used-but-slated-for-retirement Windows XP.
Downgrade rights, which allow clients to restore a newer version of Windows with an older edition without paying for 2 copies, are accessible only in Windows 8 Pro. That fits with prior practice: Only Windows 7 Professional was assigned downgrade rights.
