MacAfee releases its quarterly threats report

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) subsidiary, McAfee, reported in its quarterly threat report that, during the second quarter, it has identified over 8 million new sorts of malware, 23 percent higher than that found in the first quarter. The security company further said that at present, there are over 90 million unique types of viruses in the wild.

So far, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Windows PCs remained on the top of the list, which have gone through malicious cyberattacks, however other devices such as Apple Macintosh computers as well as cell phones are also targeted by hackers.

Head of McAfee Labs, Vincent Weafer, said that the attacks which they have usually observed on PCs are now also targeting other devices. He further said that this report focuses the requirement for safety for all devices through which user’s access the web.

At the current trading session, Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) shares faced a fall of -1.38% to $24.49. Intraday trading range is between $24.61 – $25.06. In the past year, the stock has traded within a range of $19.16 –$29.27. The current session’s volume of 2.58 million shares is down from the average daily trading volume of 32.73 million shares.
