On Tuesday, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) sent invitations to members of the press, formally declaring that it will hold an event this coming Wednesday, September 12, where it is predicted to launch its upcoming-model of iPhone.
The invitations given possessed the punch line “It’s almost here” with a huge figure printed of 12. Beneath the date of the show is a shadow cast with a figure “5,” showing the launch of Apple’s (AAPL) next-generation iPhone, the newest model after iPhone 4S.
The event will take place on 12 September this coming Wednesday at 10 a.m. Pacific Time, 1 p.m. EasternTime at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, Calif.
The new iPhone is predicted to be an entirely redesigned phone with a bigger 4-inch screen. Various leaked parts have indicated a device with a somewhat taller display, on top of a double-toned metal back.
Although the device is not predicted to carry a near-field communications chip for e-wallet functionality, it would most probably operate on Apple’s next-generation iOS6 operating system with the latest Passbook application, which would act as a digital wallet with event tickets, boarding passes, store cards and more.
Early bookings of the new iPhone are predicted to start on the same day on which the handset is released. The lists of countries in which previous models of iPhone was launched included US, UK, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and Australia while other global markets were targeted afterwards.
