Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) declared on Tuesday that its Kindle-exclusive books have been buy, downloaded, or borrowed from the Kindle library over 100 million times.
The books, which go to a catalog of over 180,000, are almost all available for Kindle owners with a Prime membership to borrow for free, as frequently as once a month, with no due dates.
Amazon has extended beyond its roots as an Internet book seller, investing insistently in new shipping centers, data centers, online video content and its own line of gadgets including the Kindle Fire tablet. The effort has miserable profits in current quarters, while revenue has strengthened
